Wildernest — Celebrating North-East India’s Independent Music
Wildernest Festival started in 2016 as a small gathering of friends, artists, and musicians who wanted to build something of their own — something closer to nature and away from the noise, a spontaneous camp-out in the foothills of Manipur slowly grew into a community-driven space for independent music and art from across North-East India and beyond.
At its heart, Wildernest celebrates the do-it-yourself spirit. Every stage, installation, and shelter has been built with our own hands — using local materials, improvisation, and collaboration. The festival is a reminder that creativity doesn’t always need big infrastructure; it just needs people who care.
Set amidst the wild landscapes of Manipur, Wildernest connects artists and audiences through shared experiences — live performances, art interventions, and conversations that flow deep into the night. As Homegrown described it,

Today, Wildernest continues to evolve — celebrating the diversity, resilience, and imagination of North-East India’s independent scene. It remains a homegrown movement where music, culture, andcommunity come together under open skies.
